Phil Manning is regarded by many as Australia’s number one R&B guitarist, and he has a most distinctive voice. His take on the songs of blues men such as Robert Johnson is quite special, sung with a lot of love and Phil’s clear diction, bringing the music of the late 1930s to life. Since the 1960s, Phil has collaborated with Matt Taylor through many configurations of Chain, interspersed with membership of many other bands; as well as pursuing his solo career as a singer/songwriter. His song “Can’t Stop” is one of my favourites, it’s a piece of music which gets stuck in one’s head.
